The Braschi Palace was built for his nephews by
Pope Pius VI in the late 18C. It was the last Papal family palace
to be built in Rome. The neo-classical style then in vogue was used
for the ponderous façade which dominate the surrounding streets.
Rome since the Middle Ages is the subject of the Museum housed in
the Palazzo Braschi. The colossal staircase is by Cosimo Morelli,
who designed the palace.
